Details that make a difference.

01

Weld, lift, grind

Fold the welding visor outward and upward to grind or inspect behind the clear 170 × 85 mm grinding visor – without taking the helmet off.

02

True Colour auto-darkening filter

Natural colours in the light state (shade 3), a variable dark state from 8 to 12 and 0.1 ms switching. Optical class 1/1/1/1.

03

Always on, with smart auto-delay

No power button. Two sensors at eye level catch the arc, and the return to light adapts to your welding rhythm. Up to 88,000 hours of battery life.

AKETEK® Lift-Up welding helmet with the welding visor raised over the clear grinding visor

Weld and grind without changing helmets

Fold the welding visor outward and upward and keep working behind the clear grinding visor, with a 170 × 85 mm field of view for grinding and inspecting the weld. Lower it again before you strike the next arc – the visor follows guides on both sides of the shell. The grinding visor is a replaceable part (SKU 73002).

AKETEK® True Colour auto-darkening welding filter, front view

Swedish True Colour optics

Liquid-crystal optics are Aketek’s speciality, built on 50 years of auto-darkening experience since Åke Hörnell’s first prototype in 1976. The filter gives a clear, natural-coloured view in the light state (shade 3) and switches to your chosen dark shade between 8 and 12 in 0.1 ms. It is rated 1/1/1/1 with class V1 angular dependence to EN ISO 16321 and blocks UV and IR radiation at all times, even in the light state.

Back of the AKETEK® auto-darkening filter with the WELD/GRIND switch and the sensitivity and shade knobs

Always on. Always ready.

There is no power button. Two sensors at eye level detect the arc the moment you strike it, and smart auto-delay adapts how quickly the filter returns to the light state to your welding rhythm. The energy-efficient electronics last up to 88,000 hours of use – around ten years of readiness. Sensitivity and shade are set with two knobs on the filter; a switch selects WELD or GRIND.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions.

How do I switch between welding and grinding?

Fold the welding visor outward and upward; it locks in the raised position and you grind or inspect behind the clear grinding visor. Lower it again before striking an arc. The filter’s GRIND mode is available too, for grinding with the visor down.

Is the grinding visor replaceable?

Yes. The clear grinding visor is a wear part, SKU 73002 (2-pack). Replace it when it is scratched or no longer gives a clear view.

Do I need to switch the helmet on or charge it?

No. The filter is always on and ready the moment you strike an arc. Its energy-efficient electronics are designed for up to 88,000 hours of use, so there is nothing to charge or remember.

Can I fit a magnifying lens?

Yes. Magnifying lenses from +1.0 to +3.0 dioptres (SKU 77010–77030) fit behind the filter, in the same way as the inner cover plate. A +1.5 DIN shade lens (SKU 77000) is available for very bright processes.

Can I use it with a hard hat?

Yes. The hard hat adapter (SKU 78001) replaces the standard headgear and mounts the helmet on a safety helmet.

What does the warranty cover?

The auto-darkening filter has a two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Keep the invoice and the serial number as proof of purchase. Cover plates, sweatbands, neck pads and other wear parts are consumables and are not covered.
